The CenterPointe Club acts as the social and recreational hub of Playa Vista, serving a mixed use community of more than 6,500 residents. The community center, inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s prairie style architecture, houses banquet & meeting spaces, a fitness center with two pools and sundeck, screening room, reading room, business center, and outdoor lounge areas. After 10 years of use, we were asked to update these spaces making them more modern, crisp, and inviting.

Riffing off the influence on Frank Lloyd Wright’s work, the colors, materials and furnishings are inspired by Japanese art and design. A palette of indigo, shades of succulent green, and earth tones weave through the building visually connecting the inside with the outside.
An airy lobby, with custom designed walnut furnishings and rugs, has a welcome feeling of entering a sophisticated, well designed living room. Using the large window like a picture frame, the lobby looks outside to the once underutilized Pre-function Terrace, now adorned with a vertical garden, ample lounge furniture and a custom fire table. The sunny Reading Room, accented with chartreuse and a built-in shelf and banquette, opens to a sunny patio for lounging, meeting and working. A custom carpet, light installation, and “living room” seating give new life and warmth to a capacious great room/ballroom. The junior Olympic and family pools were re-envisioned to feel like a luxury hotel. Soft grasses ring the area, where sun bathers relax in cabanas atop sleek pool furnishings.
